Do I need to pay?
Most people don't.
Some do but it's easy and affordable. More...

Most people won't need to worry about payment, some people will only have to worry a bit. I am the legal owner of these cartoons and in some cases I ask you to pay a tiny something for their use (see licenses).

Payment is by credit card, using PayPal. This seems to be the safest and easiest way to get money to me.

how to buy
Remember, most people won't need to pay anything (see licenses). Purchasing is safe and reasonably simple, using the PayPal shopping cart (note that very special licenses are a little different).
1. After downloading, find the "add to cart" panel.
2. Click normal or special depending on your intended use.
3. A new window opens. This is your PayPal shopping cart.
- Your purchase will be listed in the shopping cart.
- Click "continue shopping" to return to my web site.
4. When you've finished shopping, you complete the purchase.
- Pay with your credit card directly (or login if you're a member).
5. Your credit card is debited. You get an itemised email receipt.

making a one-off payment
Sometimes, you may need to make a single one-off payment instead of using the shopping cart. Some examples might be:
- in the case of a "very special" license for a book
- paying for cartoons previously downloaded
- upgrading a license e.g. from normal to special
- paying for multiple use

The process is similar to that described in item 4 of how to buy.

If you do make a one-off payment, I ask that you include a note in the text window in the PayPal site (you'll see it) outlining what the payment is for.

Note that you can pay for a specific cartoon at any time by just going to the cartoon page and adding the payment to your shopping cart.

PayPal
This is an internet site that allows safe, convenient transfer of money. It is trusted by millions around the world. It is the most popular and well organised online payment facility I have found and is owned by ebay, the huge international auction site.

The process is quite streamlined and safe. You can collect licenses in a personal shopping cart without doing anything else. When it comes time to buy, you can pay with your credit card even if you're not a registered Paypal member. See above.

why PayPal?
Security, dependability and convenience. Small payments are difficult (and expensive) to manage, particularly between countries. Credit card payments seem to be the easiest and safest way to do these mini transactions. It is expensive and complicated however to set up a credit card facility for myself, which is where PayPal comes in. I use their facilities in return for me paying them some fees and a small commission.

are there hidden costs?
I don't think PayPal charges you anything for purchasing from me (I have to pay a transaction fee for your purchase, as well as other fees). It's possible that people outside of the US will be charged a foreign exchange conversion fee by their credit card company. My experience is that this is minimal and related to the size of the transaction (which in the case of this site is very small) but you may prefer to check.

what if I don't have a credit card?
Use a friend's card or, if it's just too hard, don't pay (this only applies if you fall in to the normal category).
